Raechel graduated from James Madison University (B.A.) in 2013 with a degree in Graphic Design. After attaining her degree, she moved to Austin, TX. She attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School, obtaining an A.A.S. in Culinary Management. Afterward, she completed her pastry externship at La Condesa. There, she worked under James Beard-nominated executive chefs Laura Sawicki and Rene Ortiz. After her experience as a pastry chef, she found the world of specialty coffee. Six years (and many espresso shots later), Raechel earned a spot in the 2019 National Barista Championship. During the 2020 pandemic, Raechel opened Try Hard Coffee. Since opening, Try Hard won national and international awards, including Spudge's esteemed "Best New Cafe 2020". As a freelancer who specializes in merchandising and brand identity, the dedication to her craft carries over to the end result for her clients.
Raechel’s freelance clients include: Oatly, The United States Barista Competition, Synesso Espresso Machines, Minor Figures and Austin Coffee Society. She also works with musicians in Austin to create album artwork and special-release coffee through Try Hard Ltd Vinyl. Her clients include: The Sword, David Ramirez, Brownout, Die Spitz, Jackie Venson, and many more. She is currently seeking projects to broaden her scope of work.
